Solution Engineer

We are hiring a Solution Engineer to lead our automation projects.
In this role, you will work closely with stakeholders at Dexterity HQ in Silicon Valley and Dexterity-SC Japan to propose optimal robotic solutions that address the automation challenges faced by customers in Japan’s logistics industry. You’ll collaborate with top engineers in both the U.S. and Japan, as well as internal and external partners, to drive technically complex automation projects — from proposal through implementation. This is a unique opportunity to take on high-impact challenges in a fast-evolving field.

Responsibilities (including but not limited to)

Develop a deep understanding of the performance, specifications, and environmental requirements of Dexterity’s robotic systems developed in the U.S.
Assess and analyze customers’ current logistics operations and identify key operational challenges
Define functional and non-functional requirements for robotic systems based on on-site customer needs
Propose and explain automation solutions leveraging robotic systems, focusing on both technical and operational aspects
Lead discussions and negotiations with customers to finalize solution requirements prior to implementation
Evaluate necessary peripheral equipment and manage communications with related vendors
Manage action items from customer meetings, proposal discussions, and pre-implementation proof-of-concept stages
Serve as the primary liaison with Dexterity’s U.S. headquarters to ensure alignment throughout all stages of project development

Desired Skills

Fluency in both Japanese and English, with the ability to negotiate and communicate effectively in both languages
Strong communication skills to handle detailed requirements and negotiations in both English and Japanese
Experience in the design or development of systems, machinery, or electrical components (or equivalent practical experience)
Proven experience in direct communication and negotiation with customers and vendors

Preferred Skills and Experience

Experience in project management
Proven ability to create key documentation such as proposals, design specifications, requirements definitions, inspection protocols, and user manuals
Professional experience in manufacturing industries involving robotics or material handling systems, including direct customer engagement
Hands-on experience with setting up logistics operations or production lines
Proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD software
Ability to read and understand mechanical and electrical drawings
Strong English language skills are highly valued and frequently utilized in this role
